Veteran Services
The Veteran Pathways Project
The Veteran Pathways Project is a comprehensive support program launching in early 2025 for veterans in Auglaize and Mercer counties. Services will include individual and group counseling tailored to address mental health needs, personalized case management for stability and resource access, VA benefits support to navigate applications and claims, job placement and application assistance to find meaningful employment, and mentorship programs that connect veterans with peers and community leaders for guidance. Our mission is to help veterans thrive by providing the tools and support they deserve.

Please contact our head social worker, Kateland Keene-Gutierrez LSW at VPP@thearmoryofstmarys.com for any inquiries about this program or to request services.
Individual Counseling
Our licensed social worker offers individualized counseling sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of veterans. These one-on-one sessions provide a safe, supportive space to address challenges such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the complexities of transitioning to civilian life. With a compassionate and professional approach, we aim to empower veterans to navigate their journey toward healing, resilience, and personal growth.
VA Benefit Support
Our vision is to create a comprehensive VA Benefits Support program to empower veterans in accessing the resources they’ve earned. This program will provide personalized assistance with filing claims, navigating appeals, and understanding the full range of VA benefits. We aim to offer educational workshops and one-on-one guidance to help veterans make informed decisions about their entitlements. Additionally, we plan to develop dedicated services for GI Bill navigation, ensuring veterans can seamlessly access educational opportunities and pursue their career goals. Through these initiatives, we strive to remove barriers and support veterans every step of the way.
Group Therapy
We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of our Group Therapy program, starting in February 2025. This new initiative will provide veterans with a supportive space to connect with others who share similar experiences. Led by a licensed professional, the group will offer a safe environment for open discussions on challenges like trauma, stress, and the transition to civilian life. Veterans will have the opportunity to build connections, receive support, and share in the healing process, fostering a strong sense of community and resilience. We look forward to offering this valuable resource in 2025 and beyond.
Job Placement and Application Assistance
We are excited to launch a new initiative dedicated to helping veterans secure meaningful employment. This program will provide personalized support, including assistance in creating professional resumes and cover letters tailored to veterans’ unique skills and experiences. A licensed social worker will work closely with participants to identify their strengths and guide them toward fulfilling career opportunities.
As part of this initiative, we plan to partner with local companies to advocate for veteran-friendly workplaces, ensuring a broader range of opportunities for those who have served. Together, we’ll build pathways to rewarding and sustainable careers for our veterans.
Case Management Services
Our case management services are designed to provide veterans with personalized support in securing essential resources for a stable and fulfilling life. Our goal is to develop tailored strategies that ensure access to housing, healthcare, food, and transportation. In addition, we aim to connect veterans to local community resources and organizations that can offer additional support, fostering a network of care and opportunity. Whether navigating complex systems or finding immediate solutions, our team is here to empower veterans and guide them every step of the way.
Mentorship
We are excited to develop a Veteran Mentorship Program designed to connect transitioning veterans with experienced mentors who can provide guidance, encouragement, and support. Our goal is to collaborate with the National Guard to assist units returning from deployment, fostering a strong network of care during their reintegration.
To make this vision a reality, we are seeking recommendations for volunteer mentors—veterans, community leaders, or professionals—who are passionate about making a difference. Together, we can build a mentorship program that empowers veterans and strengthens our community. If you know someone who would be an excellent mentor, we’d love to hear from you!
