Annual Fundraising Goals
The St. Marys Community Armory is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans, youth, and families through programs that strengthen our community, foster connection, and improve quality of life.

After launching our nonprofit programming in 2025, we have focused on developing sustainable initiatives that address local needs while creating opportunities for education, mentorship, service, and support. While we are still a young organization, our vision is long-term: to build programs that make a lasting impact on the lives of local veterans, youth, and families.

Our Programs
Veterans Pathways Program (VPP)
The Veterans Pathways Program is focused on supporting the mental wellness and social connection of local veterans.
Current and planned initiatives include:
-
Mental Health Counseling Support – Helping veterans connect with free + low cost professional counseling services and reducing barriers to accessing care.
-
Coffee with Comrades (Coming Soon) – A veteran-focused gathering designed to promote camaraderie, reduce isolation, and provide a welcoming environment where veterans can connect with one another.

Peggy's Place for Teens
Peggy's Place for Teens is a free teen center located within the Armory. The center provides local youth with a safe, welcoming environment where they can socialize, build friendships, participate in activities, and connect with positive adult role models.
Our goal is to provide a place where teens feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow into successful adults.

Armory Community Garden
The Armory Community Garden provides fresh produce while creating opportunities for veterans, youth, and families to learn valuable life skills.
In addition to growing fruits and vegetables, we plan to offer educational opportunities such as:
-
Gardening workshops
-
Canning and food preservation classes
-
Jam-making classes
-
Pie-making and baking classes
-
Pollinator and nature education programs
The garden serves as both a source of food and a source of education for our community.

Community Events
Throughout the year, we host events that bring our community together while honoring and supporting local veterans and their families.
These include:
-
Memorial Day Veterans & Family Cookout – A free annual cookout hosted for veterans and their families as an opportunity to gather, connect, and enjoy time together as a community while remembering those who served and sacrificed.
-
Friendsgiving for Veterans – A free holiday meal and fellowship opportunity for local veterans and their families.
-
Community volunteer opportunities and educational programming that encourage service, learning, and community engagement.

Keeping Costs Low to Maximize Impact
One of the greatest advantages of our organization is our ability to operate with very low overhead.
The Armory of St. Marys, the for-profit event venue that shares our facility, generously allows The St. Marys Community Armory to utilize space for Peggy's Place for Teens and the Community Garden at no cost. The primary ongoing operating expense associated with these programs is the winter gas bill used to heat portions of the facility.
This unique partnership allows us to direct a much larger percentage of donated funds toward programs and services rather than facility expenses.
Simply put, more of your donation stays in the community and directly benefits the people we serve.

Our Annual Fundraising Goal
Our goal is to raise $10,000 annually through donations, sponsorships, and fundraising efforts.
Funds raised will be used to:
-
Build and maintain an emergency assistance fund for local veterans.
-
Help cover mental health counseling services and support for veterans.
-
Support Coffee with Comrades and other veteran-focused programming.
-
Maintain and improve Peggy's Place for Teens.
-
Support the Armory Community Garden and related educational programming.
-
Cover essential operating expenses, including winter heating costs.
-
Expand programs and services that directly benefit veterans, youth, and families in our community.

Because our facility costs are largely donated, these funds can be invested directly into services and programs rather than overhead.
