Projects and Initiatives
Peggy's Place Teen Center is currently open on a limited basis as we continue to build programming and recruit volunteers. The center provides a safe, supervised space where local teens can relax, connect with friends, play games, work on homework, and participate in special activities. While we're still in the early stages, we're excited about the future and look forward to expanding hours, programs, and opportunities for youth in our community.

Veteran and Youth Community Garden
We are in the process of designing a collection of raised garden beds that will be available at the back of the property to be used by youth in city limits who want to be a part of 4H or learn about agriculture. This project is a collaborative effort with various youth organizations in the community such as FFA, Scouts, the Auglaize County Health Department, and 4H.

The Mental and Behavioral Health Survey for Auglaize County aims to assess the mental health and substance use needs of our rural community. By gathering insights from residents, we can identify gaps in services, understand prevalent issues, and enhance local mental health resources.

Annual Veterans and Families Memorial Day Picnic
Beginning in 2026, The St. Marys Community Armory will host an Annual Memorial Day Community Picnic to bring veterans, their families, and community members together in remembrance and fellowship. This free event will feature food, activities, and opportunities to connect while honoring the service and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our nation. We look forward to making this a meaningful community tradition for years to come.

The Veterans Pathways Program currently offers virtual counseling services through our partnership with Mindfully Counseling. We are also working to renovate office space on the lower level of The Armory and hope to begin offering in-person counseling services by the end of 2026.

The Armory Restoration Project
This project focuses on the meticulous restoration of the armory building, which has served as a vital community hub since its construction in the early 20th century. Objectives of this project include updating plumbing and electrical within the building, repairing the roof and ceiling, as well as adding heating and air conditioning.

Annual Veteran's Friends Giving
Annual Veterans Friendsgiving
Established in 2025, the Annual Veterans Friendsgiving is a holiday gathering dedicated to bringing veterans together around the table for good food, fellowship, and community. Held each November, this free event provides an opportunity for veterans, military families, and supporters to share a Thanksgiving-style meal, build meaningful connections, and celebrate the spirit of gratitude. Our goal is to ensure that no veteran spends the holiday season feeling alone and that every participant leaves knowing they are part of a supportive community.
